- 8 cups figs
- 4 cups sugar
- 4 cups water
- 1 slice lemon
- 6 tablespoons soda
- 6 cups hot water
Directions

1To remove fuzz, sprinkle soda over figs and add 6 cups hot water. Let stand 5 minutes. Drain and wash thoroughly in cold water.

2Slit or pierce on side of figs to prevent bursting.

3Combine sugar and water in large pot. Bring to boil over high flame, add thin lemon slice.

4Drop figs into boiling syrup and cook until tender and transparent.
