- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter, softened
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour *
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 to 3 oz. filberts
- Glaze (following)
- sugar
Directions

1Heat oven to 375°.

2Mix 3/4 cup sugar, the margarine, shortening and egg.

3Stir in flour, vanilla, baking powder and salt.

4Shape dough by teaspoonfuls around filberts to form balls. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

5Bake until delicately brown, 12 to 15 minutes; cool.

6Dip tops of cookies into Glaze, then into sugar.

7Makes about 7 dozen.
