  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c white sugar
  • 1 c. melted shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp hot water
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • salt

Directions

    Cream sugar and shortening. Add beaten eggs. Dissolve soda in the hot water and add to the mixture with salt and vanilla. Add flour. Roll dough quite thin. Cut with cookie cutter. Put filling in one cookie and cover with another. Seal edges with fork and prick top several times.
