- 2 Tbsp. butter, margarine or bacon drippings
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 2 c. water
- 2 medium potatoes, diced
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. frozen fish fillets, defrosted and cut in 1-inch cubes
- 3 c. milk
Directions

1Melt butter, margarine or bacon drippings in large saucepan. Add onion slices and cook until light yellow.

2Add water, diced potatoes, salt and pepper; bring to a boil.

3Reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are slightly soft when tested with a fork. Add fish and simmer for 25 minutes.

4Add milk and heat, stirring occasionally.

5Serve in hot soup bowls accompanied with large, round crackers.
