Fish With Tumeric Sauce

  • 1 lb white fish (eg Haddock)fillet
  • 1 tbsp fat free mayonaise
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 inch piece of fresh tumeric, grated/ground
  • 2 small shallots, finely chopped/ground
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp oil

Directions

    Heat oven to 400 degrees.

    Place fish, skin side down, on oven proof dish.

    Coat top of fish with mayoinaise, sprinkle with salt & pepper.

    Spread and press in bread crumbs.

    Sprinkle lemon juice over crumbs.

    Bake for 20 minutes.

    While fish is baking, heat oil in pan, add in tumeric and shallots, fry till fragarant.

    All in flour, make a roux, gradually stir in skimmed milk and addalt to taste.

    Pour over fish.

    Serve with plain white rice and a salad.
