  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. plus Tbsp. shortening or 1/3 c. lard
  • 2 1/2 to 3 Tbsp. ice water

Directions

    In medium bowl, combine flour and salt; with pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in shortening.

    Quickly sprinkle ice water 1 tablespoon at a time, tossing lightly until flour is mixed in. Shape pastry into ball; flatten to 1-inch thickness.

    Refrigerate 30 minutes.
