  • 1 1/2 lb. stew beef, cut into small pieces
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 5 carrots, sliced
  • 5 potatoes, sliced
  • 1 c. chopped celery (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 (12 oz.) cans V-8 juice

Directions

    Put stew meat in bottom of casserole dish.

    Layer onion, carrots, potatoes and celery.

    Add salt and pepper.

    Sprinkle with sugar and cornstarch.

    Pour V-8 juice on top.

    Cover and bake 3 1/2 hours at 300°.
