- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- 3 tablespoons diced celery
- 3 tablespoons diced onion
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions

1Melt the butter or heat the oil in a 1-quart saucepan over medium heat.

2Add the celery and onion and sweat until soft, then add the basmati rice and stir until the kernels are coated with butter.

3Cook over low heat, stirring, for about 2 minutes, until the rice turns opaque.

4Add the water and salt and bring to a boil.

5Lower the heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.

6Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.

7When ready to serve, fluff the rice with a fork.
