  • 1 cup white wine
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 34 cup sugar

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Peel apples and as you peel them, place them in a bowl with the wine and turn to coat the surface of each apple allowing them to soak in wine while completing remaining preparations.

    Place spices and half the sugar into a buttered 9 x 9 x 1 3/4-inch baking dish.

    Pour wine from apples into dish.

    Arrange apples in dish and sprinkle on remaining sugar.

    Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until tender.

    Baste several time while cooking.
