French Meat Pie

- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 c. potatoes, mashed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg (optional)
- pastry for double crust pie
Directions

1In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Saute onion until tender.

2Remove and set aside. Brown beef and pork together. Drain. Combine meat, onion, potatoes and seasoning.

3Fill pastry with mixture and top with crust.

4Brush top of crust with egg, if desired. Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.

5Serves 6 to 8.
