- 1/2 c. margarine or butter
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 4 egg yolks (set aside whites)
- 1 1/4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 egg whites
- 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. sugar
Directions

1Cream margarine, sugar and egg yolks.

2Combine flour, salt and baking powder.

3Add flour mixture to creamed mixture with milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla; mix well.

4Pour batter in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

5Set aside.

6Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla.

7When whites reach a peak, fold in 1 cup sugar. Spread on top of unbaked cake mixture.

8Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.

9Serve with strawberries or any fresh fruit.
