- 3 lb. tart cooking apples
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
Directions

1Peel apples and cut into paper thin slices.

2Mix with granulated sugar, nutmeg, salt and lemon juice.

3Pack as firmly as possible in a 9-inch pie pan.

4Combine flour and brown sugar; add butter and cut in until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

5Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over apples; press down firmly, especially at edges to retain juice.

6Bake at 350° for 1 1/4 hours or until apples are tender.

7Yields 1 (9-inch) pie.
