  • 3 to 4 bunches greens
  • 1 lb. bacon, salt pork or smoked ham hocks
  • water
  • sugar (optional)
  • salt
  • pepper

Directions

    Wash greens (turnip, mustard, collard or a combination). Remove tough stems.

    Cut bacon, salt pork or ham hocks in small pieces; add water and boil slowly.

    Add black pepper and salt to taste.

    Cook greens until tender.

    Serve with cornbread.
