Fresh Strawberry Bread

Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 2 eggs, separated
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. crushed or chopped, fresh strawberries
Directions

1Cream together the butter, sugar and almond extract.

2Beat in egg yolks one at a time.

3Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

4Add flour mixture alternately with strawberries to creamed mixture.

5Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into strawberry mixture.

6Line a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with greased wax paper.

7Turn batter into pan.

8Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes or until cake tests done.

9Cool 15 minutes on rack. Remove from pan and cool.

10Makes one loaf.

11Bread freezes well and also makes delicious toast.
