- 6 granny smith apples or 6 any other tart apples, sliced
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 dash nutmeg
- 1 dash salt
- 1/4 cup bacon drippings or 1/4 cup butter, approx.
Directions

1In a large iron skillet, melt the bacon drippings.

2Careful don't let it get too hot.

3Place the apples evenly over the bottom and sprinkle them with the lemon juice, followed by the brown sugar, then salt.

4Cover and cook over a low heat for 15 min.

5until the apples are tender, yet juicy.

6You don't want them dry.

7Sprinkle the apple with cinnamon and nutmeg before serving.
