- 3 Tbsp. bacon fat or more
- 2 tsp. red pepper flakes
- salt to taste
Directions

1Use only the young sprouts, 6 or 8-inches high. Do not cut below surface of the ground as the root is poisonous.

2Parboil leaves and stalks 3 times, pouring off water after each 1 minute of boiling.

3Boil in fourth water until thoroughly tender. Drain and fry in hot, salted bacon drippings.

4Serve with vinegar.
