Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/4 c. cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 c. milk (buttermilk may be used)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 or 4 green tomatoes, cut into 1/4-inch slices

    Mix dry ingredients.

    Dip slices into blended egg and milk. Coat with dry mixture and fry until crisp (in enough oil to cover the coated tomato).
