- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 5 to 6 Tbsp. cold water
- 1 1/2 c. dried fruit
Directions

1Sift together flour and salt.

2Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.

3Sprinkle with water, mixing lightly until dough just holds together.

4Divide dough in half.

5Roll on floured board to 1/8-inch thickness and cut into rounds 5 to 6-inches in diameter. Spoon 2 tablespoons fruit into half of each round.

6Fold in half. Press edges together with fork to seal.

7Bake in 375° oven for 15 to 20 minutes or fry in deep hot fat (360°) until brown.

8Yields 8 to 10 pies.
