- 4 tomatoes (solid), cut in 1/2-inch slices
- 3 Tbsp. hot fat and butter
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- flour
- 1/2 c. milk
- salt and pepper
Directions

1Dredge slices thickly with flour.

2Fry quickly in 2 tablespoons hot drippings or butter, browning well on both sides. Remove to serving platter.

3Sprinkle with salt, pepper and brown sugar. Keep warm.

4Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan and blend in a tablespoon flour.

5Add the milk and cook, stirring constantly.

6Should be about the consistency of thick cream.

7Pour over tomatoes and serve.
