Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Boil raisins and water 5 to 10 minutes to soften.

    Drain raisins, saving 1 cup water.

    Add soda to water and set aside. Cream sugar and shortening.

    Add eggs, water and vanilla.

    Add the remaining dry ingredients to the wet.

    Add raisins.

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.

    Let cool and frost with Struedel Topping.
