Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar (1 c. white, 1/2 c. brown)
  • 1 c. butter (1/2 c. butter, 1/2 c. margarine)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. candied red cherries
  • 1/2 lb. candied pineapple, cut up
  • 1/2 lb. mixed candied fruit
  • 2 c. applesauce

Directions

    Cream butter; add sugar and spices.

    Cream until light.

    Sift flour, salt and soda together.

    Dredge fruit and nuts with 1/2 cup flour.

    Beat eggs and add alternately with remaining flour until well blended.

    Stir in dredged fruit, nuts and applesauce.

    Pour into tube pan and bake at 300° for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

    Turn out, cool and wrap.
