- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 c. butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 10 eggs, separated
- 1 c. orange juice
- 1 c. candied fruit
- 1 c. pecans
- 1/4 c. coconut
- 2 c. candied pineapple
- 2 c. candied cherries
- 1 c. white raisins
- vanilla
- 1 c. dates
Directions

1Use 1 cup flour to dredge fruit.

2Cream together butter and sugar.

3Add molasses, then beaten egg yolks.

4Sift dry ingredients together.

5Add alternately with liquid.

6Fold in fruit and nuts (use hands).

7Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

8Pack in pans. Bake 1 hour and 40 minutes at 275°.

9Line pans with 2 layers oiled brown paper bags.

10Set pan of water on bottom rack of oven. If you need more liquid, use orange juice, only after you use egg whites.
