  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 1 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • fruit (sour red cherries, berries or peaches)

    Melt butter in baking dish.

    Put all other ingredients, except fruit, in the butter; but do not mix.

    Pour in fruit.

    Sprinkle with sugar (about 3/4 cup).

    Bake 5 minutes at 450°, then reduce to 350° and bake 45 more minutes.
