  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 20 red candied cherries
  • 2 rings green candied pineapple
  • 1 lb. dates, chopped
  • 1 lb. coarsely chopped pecans (4 c.)
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. brandy or fruit juice

    Sift flour, salt and baking powder into bowl.

    Cut up fruits, dates and nuts into it; stir.

    Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.

    Add sugar to yolks, then brandy and vanilla. Combine the two mixtures well.

    Last, fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
