  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. each: almond and vanilla flavoring
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. each: salt, soda, nutmeg and allspice
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. pecans, chopped
  • 1 c. fruit preserves (which have been mashed)
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Combine all ingredients and bring to boil; let boil slowly for 5 minutes.
