- 1 c. warm (110~ to 115~) water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 3 to 3 1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- vegetable oil (for deep frying)
Directions

1In 2 cup glass measuring cup, combine water, oil, sugar and yeast.

2Set aside 5 minutes for yeast to dissolve.

3In medium-size bowl, combine 3 cups flour and the salt.

4Add yeast mixture to flour mixture and stir until soft dough forms, adding more flour, if necessary, to make dough manageable.

5On lightly floured surface, knead dough 6 to 8 times.

6Invert bowl over ball of dough and let rest 45 minutes.

7In large skillet, heat 1-inch of oil to 375° on deep fat thermometer.

8On floured surface with rolling pin, roll out dough to a 14-inch square.

9Cut into 16 (3 1/2-inch) squares.

10Fry dough squares until golden, about 3 minutes each side.

11Drain well on paper towels.

12Makes 16 fry breads.
