  • 4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 or 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 3 level Tbsp. butter
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. nuts, broken

Directions

    Boil sugar, water, milk, cocoa and butter without stirring to 238° or until mixture forms soft ball in cold water.

    Remove from heat and let stand undisturbed until lukewarm.

    Add salt, vanilla and nuts.

    Beat well until it begins to lose its gloss.
  5. 5
    Turn quickly into a buttered pan and cut into squares.
