  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (1/4 tsp. for low sodium diet)
  • 3/4 c. butter, softened
  • 2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
  • 1/4 c. cold coffee
  • 1 1/2 c. rolled oats (quick-cooking)
  • 1 1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts (more if desired)

    Into a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar and salt.

    Add the butter, chocolate and coffee, beating well until smooth, about 2 minutes.
