- 1/4 c. margarine or butter
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease bottom only of a square pan (8 x 8 x 2-inches) with shortening.

3Heat margarine and 1 package chocolate chips in a 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted.

4Remove from heat.

5Stir in remaining ingredients except nuts and 1/2 cup chocolate chips real hard with a wooden spoon until smooth.

6Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread in pan with a rubber spatula.

7Bake until the center is set, about 30 minutes.

8Cool completely; cut into 1 3/4 x 1 1/2-inch brownies.

9Store brownies tightly covered.
