Fudge Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. heavy cream (I use canned milk)
  • 6 oz. (6 sq.) unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 8 Tbsp. margarine (1 stick), cut in pieces

Directions

    In a heavy medium sized saucepan, combine the sugar and cream. Place over medium heat and stirring constantly, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes without stirring.

    Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate, butter or margarine and vanilla.

    Continue stirring until chocolate and butter melt.

    Turn into a bowl and cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally. Refrigerate, stirring frequently, until thickened and of a good spreading consistency.
