Ingredients

  • 3 squares (3 oz.) unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 c. hot whole milk or cream

Directions

    Combine unsweetened chocolate and butter in top of double boiler.

    Melt over hot water.

    Put confectioners sugar, salt, vanilla and milk into a small bowl.

    Beat on low speed until blended.

    Then beat in chocolate mixture on high speed.

    Beat until thick enough to spread.

    More powdered sugar or cream may be added to give desired consistency.

    Makes enough frosting for 2 (8-inch) layers.
