Ingredients
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
- 1 Tbsp. oleomargarine
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. quick oats
- 1/4 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1Melt first 4 ingredients over hot water in double boiler. Remove from heat.

2Add vanilla.

3Set aside to cool.

4Blend margarine, brown sugar, egg and vanilla, beating until light. Sift flour, soda and salt together, then add to first mix of margarine, sugar, egg and vanilla.

5Stir in oats.

6Press 2/3 of mixture into a 9 x 9 or 7 x 11 pan that's been greased and floured.

7Spread chocolate mixture over batter, then top with remaining batter by crumbles or bits over chocolate (use fingers and pat down a little).

8Sprinkle with nuts and press into top. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

9Cool; cut into bars.
