- 3 eggs
- 2 c. milk
- 4 c. flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- lard or other shortening (for frying)
- powdered sugar
Directions

1Beat eggs and milk.

2Sift dry ingredients together; add egg-milk mixture, beating as you pour.

3Continue beating until smooth.

4Let batter stand a few minutes while you heat 3 to 4 inches of fat to 375°.

5Pour batter into small pitcher for easier handling.

6Take an ordinary household funnel and put your finger over the end of it.

7Pour some batter into mouth of funnel; take off your finger and let batter drop into hot fat, swirling it around and around until it is 3 inches in diameter.

8Fry until light golden brown.

9Drain on paper towels.

10Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

11Serve hot. Makes about 12 cakes.
