- 3 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. each: allspice and cloves
- 2 c. chopped dates
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
- 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 2 c. packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 16 oz. beer
Directions

1Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice and cloves; set aside.

2Combine dates and nuts.

3Stir in a small amount of the flour mixture, to coat; set aside.

4In large bowl, cream the butter and sugar.

5Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg.

6Add flour mixture, alternately with beer, blending well after each addition.

7Stir in dates and nuts.

8Pour into well-greased and floured 12-cup fluted tube pan.

9Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

10Cool pan on rack for 10 minutes.

11Turn out and cool.

12Wrap in foil and refrigerate for 24 hours.
