- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 1/2 c. cake flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 pkg. German's sweet chocolate, melted in 1/2 c. boiling water
- 3 egg whites, beaten stiff
Directions

1Cream margarine, shortening and sugar together.

2Beat in egg yolks.

3Sift together cake flour and salt.

4Stir in alternately with mixture of buttermilk and soda.

5Stir in vanilla and chocolate.

6Fold in egg whites.

7Bake 25 minutes at 350° in 3 greased, floured and wax paper lined 8-inch round layer pans. Cool on racks.

8Frost.
