German Chocolate Pie

  • 3 c. granulated sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 7 Tbsp. baking cocoa
  • 1 (13 1/2 oz.) evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c. melted butter or margarine (stick)
  • 2 c. flaked coconut
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 2 (9-inch) unbaked pie crusts

Directions

    Combine sugar, salt and cocoa in bowl.

    Stir in evaporated milk, vanilla, eggs and melted butter; blend well.

    Stir in coconut and pecans.

    Turn mixture into pie shells.

    Bake in 350° oven for 40 minutes or until set around edge of pies.

    Makes 2 pies, 6 to 8 servings each.
