  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 slices bread
  • 2 medium onions, grated
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. raisins
  • 3 1/2 c. drained sauerkraut
  • 8 gingersnaps
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce

Directions

    Combine beef, bread, half onion, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and pepper.

    Mold into balls.

    In Dutch oven, combine remaining onion, sugar, raisins, kraut, gingersnaps and tomato sauce.

    Add meat balls; simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
