Ingredients

  • 1 c. dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. soft butter
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Mix together the sugar, egg, butter, molasses and vanilla. Sift flour with soda, salt and spices; add alternately with milk to first mixture.

    Mix well.

    Add nuts.

    Pour into a greased 9-inch square pan.

    Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.

    Cool in pan, then cut.
