  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 34 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 14 cup dark molasses

Directions

    Mix all the dry ingredients together: baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt.

    Blend together the sugar, shortening, egg and molasses and pour into dry ingredients, mix well and form into balls.

    Press down to 1/2 inches, sprinkle sugar on top.

    Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes until starts to crack on top.
