- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 34 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 14 cup dark molasses
Directions

1Mix all the dry ingredients together: baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt.

2Blend together the sugar, shortening, egg and molasses and pour into dry ingredients, mix well and form into balls.

3Press down to 1/2 inches, sprinkle sugar on top.

4Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes until starts to crack on top.
