- 2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 3/4 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening well.

2Beat in molasses, eggs and vanilla.

3Gradually blend in dry ingredients which have been sifted together.

4Chill dough for 2 hours.

5Roll to 1/8 to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured pastry canvas.

6Cut cookies with floured cutter.

7Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.

8Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
