- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 4 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. ginger
Directions

1Cream the shortening and add sugar gradually and continue creaming until sugar and shortening are well blended.

2Add molasses and egg and beat well.

3Sift the dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture; beat until smooth.

4Roll in small balls or drop mixture from a teaspoon about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake in a 350° oven for 15 minutes.

5Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
