- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup light molasses
- 1/2 sugar
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 3/4 baking soda
- 1/2 salt
- 3 cups flour
Directions

1Cream shortening, molasses, sugar, ginger, soda and salt until fluffy.

2Add flour gradually, blending well.

3Chill several hours or overnight.

4Roll small amount of dough to 1/16-inch thickness on floured surface.

5Cut with 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter or desired shape.

6Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes or until light golden brown.
