- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon clove
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
- 1/2 cup sugar
Directions

1In a bowl sift together all dry ingredients. In another bowl cream sugar and shortening, add egg and molasses. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Roll into balls, and then roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheet and don't squish.

2Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Let cool before removing from cookie sheet. Unless you've over cooked and remove quickly to a rack.
