- 2 1/3 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 c. hot water
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Sift dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

3Add shortening, eggs and molasses.

4Mix together. Then gradually add hot water.

5Mix well.

6Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.

7May be served warm or cold.
