- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 unbeaten egg
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- pinch of salt
Directions

1Cream shortening; add sugar and beat again.

2Add egg, molasses and beat.

3Add remaining ingredients which have been sifted together.

4(I put dough in refrigerator until it's firm and use a glass to press down before baking.)

5Roll dough into balls size of small walnuts.

6Roll in sugar and bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350° for about 15 minutes.
