  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 3/4 c. shortening

Directions

    Combine sugar, flour, salt, soda and spices; stir lightly. Cut in shortening.

    Stir in molasses and egg.

    Shape dough into a ball.

    Roll out and cut.

    Place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Can be rolled in powdered sugar.
