- 3/4 c. shortening or margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. ground ginger
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cream the shortening or margarine and sugar. Add the egg and molasses and mix well. Combine the flour, ground ginger, soda, cinnamon and salt.

2Mix well.

3Add about 1/4 dry mixture to the creamed mixture at a time and mix well after each addition.

4Roll into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.

5Place well apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes. Tops will crack.

6Makes 4 or 5 dozen cookies.
