  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cloves

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add the molasses and well beaten egg.

    Add dry ingredients and beat until smooth.

    Roll into small balls (size of a walnut); dip or roll in granulated sugar and place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet.

    Bake at 350° for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned on bottom.
