  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup lard, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 14 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 14 teaspoon salt

Directions

    Put molasses and ginger in a bowl, add melted butter and sugar, then egg and warm water; sift flour and baking soda and salt; work it into the other ingredients.

    Roll out to 1/4 inch thick, and cut in rounds.

    Place on parchment lined baking sheets.

    Bake at 350F for 15 minutes.
