- 3/4 c. shortening or butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. dark molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
Directions

1Cream the butter and sugar. Add molasses and egg. Beat well. Add dry ingredients.

2Mix well. Cover and chill.

3Form in 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.

4Cook on greased cookie sheets in a 350° oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

5Makes 4 dozen.
